Speak Up to Support More Housing Options: Join our public comment training on July 21st

Why do you care about bringing more housing options to Asheville? What’s your story? And what’s the best way to share that story so it will help bring middle housing back to Asheville?

Maybe you want to build an ADU for your aging parents to live in. Or maybe you want to buy a home, but Asheville’s housing supply doesn’t include enough attainable options for you.

No matter the reason, you can join MountainTrue’s Block Party staff and supporters to advance your skills as an activist, craft your narrative, and share your experiences in a way that is persuasive. Sign up for our public comment training on Tuesday, July 21st at 6:30pm.

You know that bringing more housing options – like duplexes, triplexes, or ADUs – to our neighborhoods will help create more walkable, sustainable communities. City Council members need to hear from residents of Asheville who want these types of homes in their neighborhoods, who are eager for more new neighbors, and who want to build more homes while also preventing sprawl.

In our public comment training on July 21st, you will meet other housing activists, discuss why you feel passionate about this issue, and learn how to deliver a public comment in person at a City Council meeting or write and submit a written comment during comment periods.

We expect public hearings on these issues within the next month or two, so join us in order to be prepared! RSVP today.
